Getting (neat) freaky
Updated: Oct 27, 2020

Ok. I'm a neat freak . . . which is why I am SO excited to share some little-known methods for pairing down the EXTRA in your life. Yes I'm a KonMari fan. No I don't feel like expounding on the efficiency of storing clothes upright.

With the right tools to effectively clear the clutter you can:
Be uplifted by social media feeds (Whaaat?!)
Make friends that celebrate your wins and support you during struggles
Make time for the people that matter the most to you
Pursue your "magnificent obsessions" (those goals you're willing to do just about anything to achieve)
Motivational speaker Mel Robbins hit the nail on the head when she stated "If you look at the people in your circle and don't get inspired, then you don't have a circle. You have a cage." Consider this. Imagine you can't post on instagram, fb, twitter etc. for 1 year, and can ONLY scroll through your feed, does your feed reflect who you aspire to be? IF the answer is "no" then it's time to clear the clutter.

Next, let's check out your calendar. Imagine you were a complete stranger looking at your calendar. Could you tell whether or not you had a family? Or dear friends? Or a magnificent obsession? IF the answer is "no" then it's time to clear the clutter. If spending time on these is not explicitly in your calendar it will be very hard to "find" that time. Only you can make time for who and what matters most in your life.
HOW? Here are a few tools I use on a daily basis to clear the clutter:
Before following someone on instagram, I check out their posts (if possible). If I'm not willing to see that content every day, I don't follow. You can easily use this method with fb, Pinterest, twitter etc. Be ruthless. This is your time and attention.
Sometimes we carry with us the mental weight of what we expect ourselves to do. That is often MUCH greater than the reality. It is ok to cross off or delegate tasks. DO schedule time to call family or have a supper with your significant other or pursue your passion. If I don't put what matters in my schedule, it won't happen. Let go of the myth that scheduling should only be used for work tasks. It's YOUR time!
